Carnival Destiny

November 20, 1996 Update

Carnival Cruise Lines' new $400 million M.S. Carnival Destiny, the largest cruise ship ever constructed, has finally arrived in the United States! The first cruise ship to exceed 101,000 gross-registered-tons, Carnival Destiny accommodates a maximum of 3,400 passengers, is taller than the Statue of Liberty and is nearly three football fields in length. It features the Rotunda; a nine-deck-high, glass-domed atrium; the three-level Palladium show lounge that seats 1,500; a 15,000-square-foot Nautica Spa and a 214-foot-long waterslide. Constructed in Monfalcone, Italy, the ship will operate year-round from Miami beginning November 24, 1996, departing Sundays on seven-day alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean Cruises.
