Sea Princess Design Team
When Sea Princess debuted in December 1998, she set sail with many of the traditional Princess features that have become hallmarks of the line, such as high quality accommodations and an abundance of private balconies, atriums that serve as the ship's social center, a popular pizzeria and an uncommon level of spaciousness. But there are also many new innovations, first introduced aboard her sister ships Sun Princess and Dawn Princess, which have already become Princess Grand Class® trademarks, like a 24-hour café, not one but two main showrooms, a state-of-the-art health and fitness center and a fully-equipped business center. Overall responsibility and coordination of this massive design project fell to three principal members of the design team, who are listed below:
Njal Eide
With more than 25 years experience in the design and development of cruise ships, Njal Eide is considered among the world's most creative ship designers, recognized primarily for his bold, innovative and futuristic style. The Norwegian-born Eide, coordinating architect of Sea Princess, has been involved in other Princess projects, including the concept and design of her sister ships Dawn Princess and Sun Princess, as well as the line's innovative Royal Princess and the refurbishment of Star Princess' successful "Windows to the World" lounge.
Giacomo Mortola
Giacomo Mortola is the designer of several spectacular interior spaces aboard Sea Princess, including the innovatively designed Neopolitan and Sicilian Dining Rooms, Princess Theatre, Wheelhouse Bar, Entre Nous Wine and Caviar Bar, Rocky's Disco, and Lago's Pizzeria. Mortola has had a longtime affiliation with Princess, having begun his initial work with the former Sitmar Cruises in 1974. He was involved in the construction of Dawn Princess, Sun Princess, Sky Princess, Crown Princess and Regal Princess and has overseen the refurbishments of Island Princess, Pacific Princess and several former Sitmar vessels. A graduate of the University of Genoa, the Italian-born Mortola also served as coordinating architect of Grand Princess, the line's 109,000-ton supership.
Teresa Anderson
As the in-house director of interior design for Princess Cruises, Teresa Anderson is responsible for overseeing all phases of interior design development for Sea Princess. She has handled the development of both the conceptual and schematic designs, including the selection of the various materials for both public areas and passenger accommodations, such as colors, furniture, fabrics, architectural finishes, carpet, draperies and wall coverings. Anderson joined Princess in 1994 from the H. Chambers Company, a Baltimore-based design and planning firm, where she headed the 12-member team of professionals responsible for the interior design of the line's Grand Princess, Dawn Princess, Sun Princess, Crown Princess and Regal Princess, delivered in 1998, 1997, 1995, 1990 and 1991, respectively. A native of Peru, Anderson has a long list of outstanding design accomplishments to her credit, from government buildings in Brunei to the Paradise Grand Hotel in the Bahamas.
